Week 25: 14/03/2013
Something different this week, i thought id catch up with one of our top performers this season for a chat.
LIAM WELHAM Q & A
1.What is the best thing about being a Hunslet Player?
The set up at the club is very professional and the lads all get on really well.
2.What is the worst thing about being a Hunslet Player?
Travelling from Hull to training on winters nights
3.Who is your favourite player in the game?
I started at Hull KR academy when Shaun Briscoe was coming through and went on to play for England so admired him greatly.
4.Is there any player you dislike in the game?
Not really as I have respect for all Rugby Players.
5.What do You think is your biggest strength?
I am a good talker on the field and have decent agility
6.Who is your best team mate?
I have mostly played alongside Lee Brickwood and we get on well so would be Lee.
7.How old are you?
Still young 24
8.Who do you support?
Would have to be Hull KR as my Brother Kris plays for them.
9.What other sports do you enjoy?
I go fishing regularly with my Son and my Dad.
10.Who is the funniest Hunslet player?
Aston Wilson is quite witty and David Clayton comes out with good one liners.
11.Who is the most intelligent Hunslet player?
David March and Tommy Haughey have a very good Knowledge of the game.
12.Who is the least intelligent Hunslet player?
Josh Nathaniel doesn’t always engage his brain before he opens his mouth to speak and sometimes seems dafter than he actually is.
13.What are your rugby ambitions?
To play at the highest level I am good enough for and to be consistent for my team.
14.What car do you drive?
A Peugeot 207.
15.What size shoe are you?
I am a size 9 ½ .
16.Do you have any superstitions?
I am not sure if its classed as a superstition but I always rub a bit of mud in my hands when I run onto the pitch at the start of the game.
17.What do you think of the Hunslet / Leeds partnership?
I believe that our club is doing it for all the right reasons. Yes there are benefits with Good Leeds players available to strengthen Hunslet but long term there is a development programme in place where the Community game will benefit first and foremost with more kids playing the game and long term there will be more quality players for both Hunslet and Leeds coming through so more home grown players will be playing for their home town teams.
18.Who would you least like to share a room with on an away trip?
That would have to be Lee Mapals but not in a bad way just because hes so active and bubbly and I like my sleep.
19.Who is the best player in the Championship?
I think Jonny Hepworth doesn’t get the recognition he deserves at Featherstone because of Liam Finn and Kyle Briggs but Jonny always seems to be very influential when I have seen him play.
20.If you could make one thing happen at Hunslet what would it be?
I think the club is very pro active and is being run very professionally and would like to see more fans coming to watch. If we could average 1,000 fans that would enable the club to really compete at the top end of the league so I would like to see more fans coming down to watch.
